What is AKI no SHIMA no MI

"AKI no SHIMA no MI" is a new specialty of Aki Province, Hiroshima, Japan. It is a brand of olives with a rich and abundant flavor derived from nature.


Hiroshima, a new production center for domestic olives
The Inland of Setouchi is well known as a production area for Japanese olives, and among these, “AKI no SHIMA no MI” is cultivated mainly in the island and coastal areas of Hiroshima Prefecture.
In addition to the taste of the olives and oil, the blessed environment and efforts to revitalize the region have been attracting attention in recent years.
An environment similar to the Mediterranean climate, where olive tress naturally thrive.
The production area of AKI no SHIMA no MI has a climate similar to the Mediterranean, with low rainfall, minimal typhoon damage, and long hours of sunshine, making it ideal for olive cultivation.

"AKI no SHIMA no MI" was cultivated as a collaborative effort between citizens, local government, and businesses to address abandoned farmland and revitalize the island and coastal areas.

"AKI no SHIMA no MI" was born from activities aimed at revitalizing rural landscapes and addressing abandoned farmland. Thanks to the active efforts of the government, farmers, and local communities, olive groves have expanded year by year, and the number of planted trees and the amount harvested have increased systematically each year.




To plant 12 varieties of olives and
18 varieties including seedlings.
We grow more than 12 varieties, mainly Italian varieties and the four major domestic varieties.
There are hundreds of varieties of olive trees, and the taste and aroma of the oil vary depending on how they are grown, when they are harvested, and how they are oiled.
